1) Make sure you are showered and use deodorant , this is a must , as cheer leading is a sport and you might sweat alot. so it is vital to wear deodorant! (No one likes someone with bad hygiene - especially a girl)
2) wear a T-shirt that coordinates with your school/college colours , for bottoms you can wear:
Shorts
here are some good shorts you can buy that are comfortable and easy to move around in:
- Soffe Shorts
- Francie Pants
-USD wind shorts (avalible in many different colors) , you can buy this at Varsity.com
- Or you can wear cycling shorts , or go down to your local clothing store , and buy a pair of shorts from there .
But they MUST NOT be Denim/jean shorts because the material is hard to move in.
if you don't like wearing shorts , you can also wear leggings (if your squad allows you to do so) or joggers (but they must not be too baggy!).
3) wear your hair in a high pony so it is out of your face for more info go to : http://cheerleading.lovetoknow.com/Cheerleading_Hairstyles
4) Bring a bottle of water so you don't get dehydrated (thirsty)
5) wear white socks and white cheershoes/sneakers. if you don't have cheer shoes you can try tennis shoes.
6) Make-up:
because it is cheer practice don't over do it on the make up or you'll risk looking like a clown.
Try neutral colours that suit your skin tone and DON'T wear heaps of eye-liner or mascara.
Remember cheerleaders are meant to look PERKY! so SMILE! and wear neutral make up to appear fresh faced!
If you have any spots/pimples use a good spot cream or gel, if they still won't go away , you can cover them with a light coat of concealer.(make sure the concealer color is as close to your skin tone as possible).
DO'S...... -
-Try your best and try not to be nervous
- Listen to what your coach or cheer captain is instructing you to do.
- Be kind to people and SMILE!
- Always bring extra hair slides/bobby pins so you can fix your hair. (If your a girl).
-Try your best , don't worry if you don't get it the first time, practice makes perfect!!!
DON'T'S...-
-Don't talk about another girl/guy trying out , behind their back
-Don't waste money on cheer shoes for try-outs because , it will be a waste of time and money if you don't make the squad!
-Don't try and act like a snob like the girls in the movies! cheer leading is about fun and being cheerful not mean and snobby!
-Don't wear jewellery of any kind , this is a safety hazard.
GOOD LUCK AT CHEERLEADER TRYOUTS!
